Walkling into an MMA gym can be daunting and intimidating for new students. The fact that your here means that you're braver than most! We work hard on the mats but our gym has an easy going, brotherly atmosphere. We don't set up new students to be punching bags for our competitive athletes and you will not be pressured to spar until you are ready. The majority of our classes are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and do not involve strikes but rather pins, takedowns and submissions. This allows for students (Once Trained) to train hard daily without much risk to injury. We reserve hard sparring for experienced athletes and take our new students through many drills and soft rounds before we ever put them into a situation where they may be struck hard. Your first sparring session will be with a coach who is trained to be able to protect themselves and you at the same time. Our coaches can typically evade most of what you throw at them and will softly prod back at you to show you where you are exposed. If they throw you, they will set you to the ground gently and in a way that you do not hurt yourself. This is why we do not allow new students to spar openly with other new students, because it is much easier to beat up someone than it is to gently neutralize someone who is attacking you and new people tend to injure each other by accident (particularly with poorly executed takedowns). We'd love to have a conversation with you about our classes and talk about any of your concerns. You can schedule a class to sit in on and watch, or you can try it out for free!
