About Valhalla Jiu-Jitsu & MMA

Our staff has years of experience training, teaching and competing in professional atmospheres under the instruction of qualified coaches.  For us, martial arts has become a way of life. Each day we strive to bring excellence to our students and to push ourselves even further so as to bring the best instruction possible to our team.

Why Valhalla?

Self-Defense
Many people are interested in martial arts as a way of gaining confidence and want be able to assert themselves when/if the need ever arises while having an ace in the hole to back up that assertion in case an aggressor doesn’t take no for an answer or otherwise forces your action. Having a background in martial arts can help reduce the anxiety and stress we feel when put in any number of day to day situations where we find ourselves challenged by someone else's physical or verbal assertions.

Weight Loss, Health and Fitness Goals

Martial arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Judo and Wrestling are physically demanding and require a person to sharpen their body (especially at a competitive level) to get as much functionality and performance as possible. Our classes will leave you sweating and out of breath by implementing training through; drills, calisthenics, body weight training cardio, and of course sparring (if/when you are ready). With our programs you can get fit while learning valuable skills to protect yourself and others!

Child Character Development
Our kid’s classes are designed not only to teach the values of self-defense and fitness but also; the confidence to be assertive, patience, the values of hard work and dedication, team work, speaking in front of others, and general social skills to help them grow into respectable and successful young adults.

Why Not Traditional Martial Arts?
At Valhalla we are not so shrewd as to ignore the value of any martial arts system. We like to work with facts based on statistics, history and experience. There is nothing wrong with traditional martial arts like Karate, Kung-fu, Taekwondo, Krav Maga, etc. We believe there are pieces of value in all of these systems but it has been clear in the past several decades that arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, Muay-Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, and Sambo give athletes at the highest level of competition a huge competitive edge over the others especially when strategically combined to “round out” an athlete. And so it is martial arts like these (primarily Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai) that we  draw our instruction.
